Disgraced Sarah Ferguson has witnessed the closure of her charity following the revelation of her controversial connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Sarah’s Trust, a charity founded by the former Duchess to connect philanthropists with charitable causes, was officially dissolved last month. Initially registered with the Charity Commission in 2018, the trust is now marked as “removed,” indicating its loss of charitable status. Additionally, previously classified as a “charitable incorporated organisation” by Companies House, it is now categorized as “converted/closed.”
Emails disclosed in the Epstein Files disclosed communication between Ferguson and Epstein, shedding new light on their relationship. Despite these revelations, Ferguson vehemently denies any wrongdoing. The charity had announced its impending closure in February amid the release of millions of documents in the Epstein Files.
One of the emails between Ferguson and Epstein revealed her admiration for him, referring to him as the “brother I have always wished for.” Notably, inclusion in the Epstein Files does not imply guilt or misconduct. Another email from 2010 showcased Ferguson praising Epstein’s generosity and kindness, expressing her willingness to serve him.
Publicly released files also unveiled Ferguson’s invitation to Epstein to her 50th birthday celebration at St James’s Palace in 2010, following his 2009 release from prison for soliciting a minor for prostitution. Several other charities associated with Ferguson, including the Teenage Cancer Trust and Julia’s House, severed ties with her in light of the controversy.
Furthermore, Ferguson’s former husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, faced repercussions for his association with Epstein, leading to the loss of his royal privileges. Ferguson also forfeited her courtesy royal title, reverting to her maiden name. The Mirror has reached out to Sarah Ferguson’s representatives for a response.
