“Princess Margaret’s Grandson Crafts Porcelain Ring for Engagement”

Princess Margaret’s grandson, Samuel Chatto, has made public his engagement to his longtime partner, artist Eleanor Ekserdjian. Chatto revealed that he proposed to Ekserdjian with a porcelain ring that he personally crafted. The couple is set to get married next spring, with the King expressing his joy for them.

Sam, a 29-year-old ceramicist, is the son of Lady Sarah Chatto and Daniel Chatto. He shared the news of their engagement on Instagram, stating their happiness. The couple currently resides in London and has received warm wishes from their families.

Sam’s artistic talents come from his father, Daniel Chatto, a well-known painter. Chatto married Lady Sarah Chatto, who is Princess Margaret’s daughter, in 1994. Samuel, who is 30th in line to the throne, does not have any official royal duties. He met Ekserdjian while both were studying at the University of Edinburgh in 2021.

The couple’s holiday plans have also been of interest, as Sam was granted special permission in 2024 to have Ekserdjian join the Royal Family at Sandringham for Christmas. This decision broke tradition, as royal couples typically had to be married before attending the annual royal festivities.

Samuel Chatto, being Princess Margaret’s eldest grandchild, has a rich artistic background. He was born in London and educated at Eton College before pursuing the history of art at the University of Edinburgh.
