Prince Harry Reconsiders UK Visit Amid Security Denial

Prince Harry is reportedly reconsidering his decision to bring Meghan Markle and their children to the UK for a visit after their request for police protection was denied. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had planned to visit the UK next month to attend events related to Harry’s 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. They intended to bring their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for their first visit to the UK in four years.

Despite submitting a formal request for taxpayer-funded security, Prince Harry’s team was informed on Friday that their request was turned down. The family was scheduled to travel in early July and stay for a week, with Lilibet experiencing her first UK visit. Initially deeming the UK unsafe for his family, Harry had a change of heart this time and accepted an offer to stay at a royal residence, likely Buckingham Palace.

Previously declining offers to stay in royal residences during UK trips, Prince Harry had his police protection revoked in 2022 when he and Meghan left the royal family for the US. Frustration mounted as a security review took over six months, leading Harry to finally agree to stay at a royal residence for the upcoming visit.

Sources close to the Duke revealed his growing frustration with the prolonged decision-making process and his determination to bring his family to the UK for the Invictus event. However, concerns about security and safety for his children have prompted Harry to reassess the visit.

The UK government emphasized the strict and proportionate nature of its protective security system and refrained from disclosing specific security details to safeguard integrity and individual security. Decisions regarding security are handled by Ravec on behalf of the government, with the Home Secretary not involved in individual determinations.

Plans for family trips during the visit included a visit to Diana’s grave at Althorp House. Despite the setbacks, Prince Harry remains hopeful to bring his children to see their grandfather in the UK.
