“Newborn Baby Rescued from Rubble in Venezuela Quake”

In a heartwarming moment captured on camera, a newborn infant was rescued alive from the wreckage of a collapsed building in Venezuela following two powerful earthquakes. The country was struck by 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude quakes on Wednesday, resulting in over 1,400 confirmed deaths and more than 70,000 individuals reported missing.

Despite the widespread devastation, stories of hope have surfaced, including the miraculous rescue of children trapped under debris. A newborn baby was extricated from the rubble 32 hours after the initial earthquake, with the mother also being rescued several hours later.

Videos circulating on social media depict emotional scenes of crowds cheering as a young man embraces the rescued child, wrapped in a pink blanket, after being retrieved from a damaged structure in La Guaira city.

Experts noted that the consecutive earthquakes were some of the most severe in Venezuela in over a century, causing buildings to collapse in La Guaira, which has been designated a disaster area.

Amidst the tragedy, locals were astonished by the rescue of the baby and an 11-year-old boy found alive under the debris. Expressing deep emotions, one individual stated, “[We are] working together with love, because life is the important thing we have.”

Geophysicist Marcos Ferreira highlighted the compounding effect of the dual earthquakes, known as a doublet, amplifying the destruction. International rescue teams, including those from the UK, have arrived in Venezuela to assist in the search for survivors, with £2 million in humanitarian aid provided by the UK government.

As foreign rescuers continue to arrive, critical hours remain for saving lives, although concerns have been raised about the slow mobilization of government efforts according to local residents.
