“Prince Charles & Gareth Southgate Launch Youth Employment Program”

Prince Charles has joined forces with former England manager Gareth Southgate to introduce a new program through his King’s Trust aimed at assisting young individuals in re-entering the workforce.

This national initiative, set to commence in 2027, will provide support for 18 to 30-year-olds in securing employment through mentorship programs, online tools, and work experience opportunities. The Prince and Southgate kicked off the initiative by meeting with 20 young beneficiaries who have already benefited from the King’s Trust support.

One of the beneficiaries, Trishna Lamichhane, expressed her gratitude towards Prince Charles for facilitating her work experience through the charity’s retail program. She shared how the Trust helped her regain confidence and navigate the workplace culture after moving from Nepal to Belfast.

Lamichhane, now working at Marks & Spencer in an HR role, highlighted how the Prince commended her efforts and expressed his pride in her achievements. This initiative comes at a crucial time when over a million young individuals aged 16 to 24 are not engaged in education, employment, or training.

Gareth Southgate, an ambassador for the King’s Trust, emphasized the importance of providing support to young talents to help them realize their potential. He drew parallels with the world of sports, where coaches play a vital role in guiding individuals towards success.

Before Prince Charles’s involvement, the young attendees received personalized guidance from leaders in various sectors. The event also saw the participation of notable figures such as Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy and Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, along with mentoring sessions led by celebrities like Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Davis.

The King’s Trust has a longstanding commitment to tackling youth unemployment and fostering brighter futures for young people, having assisted over 1.3 million individuals across the UK in the past five decades.
