A pregnant woman underwent an induced delivery following a vicious attack by two dogs. Renee Wilson suffered severe injuries while shielding her chihuahua from the aggressive canines. Emergency responders were called to a residential area in Washington State, US, after reports of two unrestrained dogs on June 25.
Renee was initially taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition and later transferred to Tacoma General Hospital due to injuries and an infection caused by the assault from the dangerous dogs. The mother of three other children was carrying her baby’s car seat to her car when she noticed the dogs approaching her chihuahua, Katie Girl.
In an attempt to protect her pet, Renee intervened, resulting in the dogs attacking her arm and belly. Despite her pleas for help, the dogs continued their assault, with one even pulling her to the ground by her hair. Neighbors came to her aid upon hearing her cries, with one man using a broom and a woman overcoming her fear of dogs to assist.
Following the ordeal, doctors induced labor, and Renee gave birth to her son, Armani, unharmed. Despite spending time with her newborn over the weekend, she remains hospitalized until she regains mobility and the infection subsides. The two dogs, identified as an American pit bull terrier and an American bully, escaped through a damaged fence board known to their owners.
Animal control secured the dogs on-site and placed them under a standard 10-day quarantine. The animals have been classified as dangerous, with the owners having the option to appeal within 10 days. Failure to challenge the decision could lead to euthanasia for the dogs. The owners are also facing misdemeanor charges for neglecting to license the dogs and allowing them to roam freely, resulting in fines totaling $2,000.
Renee intends to pursue a civil lawsuit against the owners of the dogs.
