A passenger on a Ryanair flight faced a terrifying experience when a window broke mid-air, nearly causing him to be sucked out at 20,000 feet. Ljubisa Karovic, a Serbian businessman, and his wife were on a flight from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany, on July 10 when the incident occurred. His wife, Svetlana Grković, had to struggle to keep him inside the aircraft as he repeatedly lost consciousness during the ordeal.
Following the incident, Ljubisa claimed that Ryanair had not directly contacted him, only sending emails to his son who booked the flights to inquire about rebooking and his well-being. Neither the airline nor its staff reached out to him, leaving him wearing a neck brace for at least six weeks.
Svetlana criticized the cabin crew for not taking action and appearing scared while passengers tried to prevent Ljubisa from being sucked out of the plane. Medical personnel met the plane upon its emergency landing in Thessaloniki, where Ljubisa was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Passengers recalled a loud bang resembling a burst tire before the window shattered. The Mirror reached out to Ryanair for a response.
Ryanair’s group chief financial officer, Neil Sorahan, stated that their customer care team had been in contact with the family post-incident. He praised the crew for safely returning the aircraft to Thessaloniki and ensuring that everyone disembarked without harm, commending their professionalism in handling the situation.
