MP’s Cars Set Ablaze in Suspected Arson

Police are currently looking into a suspected case of arson at the residence of a Member of Parliament in Scarborough following an incident where multiple vehicles were set on fire early Thursday. The office of Scarborough Centre—Don Valley East MP Salma Zahid confirmed that both Zahid’s car and a neighboring tenant’s vehicle were targeted in the incident. Authorities revealed that a total of three cars were damaged due to a fire that occurred around 1:20 a.m. in the vicinity of Bellamy Road N. and Lawrence Avenue E. Although not explicitly linked to Zahid, Toronto police did not report any injuries resulting from the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and individuals with relevant information are urged to come forward to assist authorities. Zahid, who has served as an MP for Scarborough Centre since 2015, currently holds the positions of chair of the standing committee on science and research and vice-chair of the Canada-China legislative association.
