Tragically, a father who had been reported missing was discovered deceased inside a vehicle in Oldham.

A search was initiated for Christopher Neary, aged 58, after his last sighting by a neighbor, following which he was declared missing. He departed his residence on Lees New Road in Oldham around 6:55 pm, with family members believing he was driving his silver Ford Focus.

On Monday evening, emergency services were notified of a vehicle that had veered off Lees New Road near Abbey Hills Road. Greater Manchester Police confirmed the discovery of a deceased male, later identified as the missing father, Mr. Neary.

Reports from Manchester Evening News indicated that there was a breach in the hedgerow at the road’s edge where the vehicle had descended an embankment.

The exact time and circumstances of the collision remain unknown as investigations by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are ongoing. Authorities urge individuals with any information or potential CCTV/dashcam footage from the period between 6:50 pm on May 28 and June 1 to come forward.

In a statement, GMP mentioned that Christopher had been reported missing by his family, who now request privacy as they cope with the loss. The police are actively probing the crash to uncover all details surrounding the incident.

Meanwhile, Detective Inspector Clare Harrison of GMP’s Oldham district expressed condolences to Christopher’s family and friends, highlighting the importance of providing them with answers. Efforts are underway to determine the events leading to his demise and the specifics of the collision.
