“Minimum Wage Hike: Provinces Increase Rates Up to 40 Cents”

A hike in minimum wages ranging from 25 to 40 cents has been implemented in five provinces starting Thursday.

Ontario has raised its minimum wage to $17.95 per hour, Prince Edward Island to $17.30, and Nova Scotia to $17.

In Manitoba, the minimum wage has increased to $16.40, while in Saskatchewan, it now stands at $15.70.

These adjustments mean that all provinces and territories, with the exception of Alberta, which has maintained its minimum wage at $15 per hour since 2019, have increased their rates this year. Alberta currently has the lowest minimum wage in the country.

Leading the nation is Nunavut, where the minimum wage is set at $20.17 per hour.
