A disturbance at Barcelona airport caused panic among travelers when a man began shouting “jihadist slogans” and threw a backpack to the ground. This led to holidaymakers fleeing, and two individuals had to receive treatment for panic attacks. Authorities intervened by detaining the man with the assistance of an airport staff member, prompting the involvement of bomb disposal experts for precautionary measures. Although the bomb squad was notified, they ultimately did not need to intervene as the backpack was found to be safe.
The situation was eventually brought under control, and normal operations resumed after the incident, which took place in the airport’s T2 terminal around 7:30 pm the previous day.
