Israeli airstrikes in a town in southern Lebanon resulted in the tragic deaths of 11 individuals, including two children and two medics, as reported by Lebanon’s state news agency. Despite a ceasefire agreement in June aiming to end hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon have escalated in recent days, with at least seven people killed in strikes on Sunday.
During the early hours of Monday, Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building in Kfar Rumman, claiming the lives of nine people, including two children, and injuring five others, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency. Additionally, a separate drone strike on a civilian vehicle in the same town resulted in the deaths of two medics who were inside the car.
Interestingly, the strikes occurred without any prior evacuation warning from the Israeli military being issued online. The Israeli military did not provide immediate responses to inquiries regarding the presence of medics and children at the strike locations, as well as the absence of an evacuation warning.
Following the incident, an Israeli military spokesperson issued a belated evacuation warning for areas surrounding a building in another southern Lebanese town, where the military planned to target Hezbollah facilities.
Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have claimed over 4,300 lives since Hezbollah initiated rocket attacks on Israel on March 2, shortly after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran began. Although the ceasefire led to a significant reduction in violence, Israeli forces have continued to demolish villages in the occupied regions of southern Lebanon. The Israeli military has persistently carried out strikes in the area and beyond, often without providing evacuation alerts.
