An Instagram influencer was fatally shot at close range while waiting at a red light in her car. Angie Marcela Ramírez Vargas, 27, was driving her Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in Pitalito, a town in the Huila region of Colombia, when a motorcyclist attacked her on Friday night.
The incident occurred as Angie was stationary near traffic lights outside the Gran Plaza San Antonio shopping center. Several individuals on motorcycles approached her, opened fire at her vehicle, and quickly fled the scene.
Despite managing to drive a short distance, Angie lost control of her car. Bystanders and emergency responders rushed to assist her. Unfortunately, Angie succumbed to her gunshot wounds at the hospital.
Following the attack, the police initiated a manhunt and secured the area. They apprehended a 48-year-old suspect who was found hiding, believed to be the passenger responsible for the shooting. The second suspect evaded capture by fleeing on foot along a riverbank.
Colonel Javier Alberto Duarte, the Huila Police commander, commended the swift actions of the officers in capturing the suspect. Authorities, including the Office of the Attorney General of Colombia and national police, are actively investigating to identify the remaining suspect and determine the motive behind the murder. A motorcycle and firearm suspected to be used in the crime have been seized.
It is uncertain whether Angie had reported any threats prior to the incident. Colombia has witnessed 621 femicides since September 2025, according to the Colombian Observatory of Femicides, which collates data from official sources, media reports, and community input.
Angie’s tragic death marks the 46th homicide in Pitalito this year, as reported by Ecos del Combeima. The radio station highlighted that her murder was the second recorded in the municipality on that fateful day.
