An innocent mother tragically lost her life in Sheffield after being shot near the One Four One bar in West Street early on bank holiday Monday. Shanice Brookes, a 30-year-old mother of one, had planned to take her 10-year-old son to the Arsenal victory parade this weekend, according to her friend and cousin.
Tyler-Jay Reid and K-cee Cooper-Foster, the victim’s cousin and friend, paid a heartfelt tribute to Shanice, highlighting her selflessness and dedication to her son. They mentioned that Shanice had been out celebrating a birthday before the tragic incident occurred.
The duo has created a GoFundMe page to support Shanice’s funeral expenses and provide for her young son’s future. They described Shanice as someone with a big heart, infectious humor, and a soul that touched many lives.
Authorities have charged Jemele Rhone, 30, with murder, possession of a firearm, and possession of criminal property, while Deiryen Dyce, 32, faces charges related to assisting an offender and drug-related offenses. A third individual initially arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charges.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles expressed deep sympathy for Shanice’s family, emphasizing that she was an innocent bystander who deserved to return home safely after a night out. He acknowledged the devastating loss her loved ones are facing and extended ongoing support to them during this difficult time.
