A leading health specialist has raised significant worries regarding the health status of US President Donald Trump. Trump, set to reach 80 years of age in June, is scheduled for his third medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Center within 13 months, as confirmed by the White House. This visit has sparked increasing speculation about his well-being.
Unlike the usual practice of presidents making a single annual visit to Walter Reed, Trump had already made two trips in 2025 alone. Initially, he stated one visit was for an MRI, but later reports revealed it was actually a CT scan. The White House has affirmed that all of Trump’s visits to the medical center have been disclosed.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted last month that Trump had never made a secret visit to Walter Reed. Renowned cardiologist Jonathan Reiner expressed concerns about the lack of transparency from the White House regarding the president’s physical condition, highlighting that advancing age often brings about health issues.
Reiner, who serves as a professor of medicine and directs the cardiac catheterization laboratory at The George Washington University Hospital, noted alarm at the visible swelling in Trump’s legs. The White House disclosed in July that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition common in older individuals that results in leg swelling due to poor blood circulation.
Although Trump’s medical report from April 2025 did not mention this condition, Reiner suggested that the development of acute edema post-April could indicate more severe issues like congestive heart failure, necessitating further evaluation. Notably, his October medical report did not reference this condition either.
The ongoing discussions surrounding Trump’s health have centered on various concerns, including recurrent bruising on the back of his hands, which the White House attributed to vigorous handshaking. Reiner pointed out the unusual bruising on Trump’s left hand, raising doubts about the handshaking explanation.
