Thousands of users of the ChatGPT platform encountered issues with the AI application this morning during a global outage. Users from various countries, including the UK, US, India, Japan, and Australia, reported difficulties logging in and sending messages.
OpenAI acknowledged facing challenges with several services, such as ChatGPT and Codex, stating that they are actively investigating the situation. Numerous ChatGPT users expressed frustrations over failed loading of chats and projects, while some received alerts about an “authentication issue.”
Reports of service disruptions from OpenAI users emerged in multiple UK cities, predominantly in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, and Southampton. A user humorously commented on resorting to their own intellect for composing emails due to the unresponsiveness of the AI tool.
In the UK alone, over 3,000 OpenAI users raised concerns about AI services, with the majority (79%) linked to ChatGPT as per DownDetector. A smaller percentage (9%) encountered problems with the OpenAI app, while 8% reported issues with Codex. The widespread ChatGPT problems prompted humor and frustration among users, highlighting the impact of the service interruption.
