At the funeral of Iran’s former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a performer made a public statement advocating for the demise of US President Donald Trump. The declaration was made in front of a large crowd in Tehran while President Trump was claiming victory over Iran.
This marked the first direct call for President Trump’s death at the funeral, where posters and messages also urged for the killing of the US leader and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. These sentiments were expressed as Tehran engages in negotiations with the US to end the ongoing conflict that has disrupted global energy flow.
During the event, poet Mohammad Rasouli incited chants of “Death to America!” and “Death to Israel!” He resonated with the audience by questioning why President Trump, whom he referred to in derogatory terms, was still alive.
The funeral drew a significantly larger crowd compared to the previous day, with mourners dressed in black carrying banners honoring Khamenei and calling for the death of President Trump. Meanwhile, President Trump, in a speech in Washington, praised the success of the American military in conflicts with countries like Venezuela and Iran.
The funeral for the late Khamenei, who was assassinated in an airstrike at the start of the Iran war, serves as a rallying point for Iran’s theocracy and its new supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. This event holds significance as Iran seeks to strengthen its position in negotiations with the US, especially concerning the Strait of Hormuz and potential Israeli threats.
Due to the ongoing war, the funeral was postponed, and discussions with the US remain on hold until the conflict is resolved.
