“Father of Four Dies of Misdiagnosed Cancer at 33”

A man with four children, previously diagnosed with sciatica, has passed away after discovering his leg pain was actually a symptom of a fast-spreading cancer. Joe Till, aged 33, sought medical help for leg pain at walk-in centers but was later diagnosed with stage four diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, a severe form of blood cancer. Despite being a fitness enthusiast from Lancaster, Joe was informed by the NHS that his condition was terminal, with only a few months left to live.

Joe lost his battle with cancer on May 17. A fundraising campaign initiated to assist his wife and children has raised over £13,500. His memorial service is set for May 29.

In 2024, Joe began experiencing leg pains, initially dismissed as sciatica. His health deteriorated, leading to a diagnosis of cancer in July 2024. Throughout his treatment, Joe progressively lost mobility and, despite temporary improvements, the cancer returned. By February 9, all NHS treatment options had been exhausted.

Family and friends set up a fundraiser to finance additional therapies and secure the family home. On the fundraising platform, Joe’s family shared the news of his passing, describing him as a courageous individual who wished for a joyous celebration of his life rather than a somber occasion.

To support Joe’s family, donations can be made on the GoFundMe page, with over £13,700 raised towards the £30,000 target from 471 contributors.
