A tragic incident occurred at a remote beach in Spain where a British holidaymaker lost his life after being swept against rocks and suffering a cardiac arrest. The 25-year-old man’s companions raised the alarm swiftly, and local residents helped pull him out of the water. Despite efforts by emergency responders and medical professionals to revive him, the man could not be saved and was declared deceased at the scene.
The heartbreaking event took place around 4 pm on Wednesday at Percheles Beach in Mazarron, situated on the Costa Calida in the Murcia region of southeastern Spain. The beach is accessed via an unpaved road, with the closest town being Canada de Gallego. While authorities have not officially disclosed the nationality of the deceased individual, it has been confirmed that his companions who alerted the authorities are also British.
The regional government-run emergency response coordination center received multiple distress calls at approximately 4:05 pm reporting difficulties in rescuing a swimmer at Percheles Beach. Two young English men informed the authorities that their friend had collided with rocks and was unresponsive in the water. Several emergency services including the Civil Guard, local police, civil protection units, firefighters, and an ambulance were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Despite the efforts of those present who managed to retrieve the unconscious swimmer from the water and perform CPR until the arrival of medical professionals, the man could not be revived. A physician later confirmed the tragic loss of the 25-year-old individual. The deceased’s body was secured by Civil Protection personnel before being removed.
