“Fallen King’s Troop Soldier Honored with Military Funeral”

A soldier from the King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, Lance Bombardier Ciara Sullivan, 24, was honored with a military funeral following a tragic incident at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The ceremony, attended by family, friends, and military colleagues, took place at The Guards’ Chapel in Central London. Sullivan, known for her professionalism and service at significant royal events, passed away after falling from her horse during a performance.

The procession included her coffin carried on a historic World War I gun carriage to The Guards’ Chapel, where state trumpeters paid tribute with fanfares. Traditional military customs were observed, such as a three-round volley at Wellington Barracks and the symbolic gesture of Sullivan’s horse carrying her riding boots in reverse.

Flags were lowered to half-mast at all Army buildings in London as a mark of respect. Floral tributes spelling out “Sully” were displayed alongside photos of Sullivan in uniform with her horse. Buckingham Palace expressed deep sorrow over her passing, with the King offering condolences to her family.

Known for her love of horses and exceptional equestrian skills, Sullivan was praised by her commanding officer as an outstanding jockey with a vibrant spirit. She joined the King’s Troop after training at the Army Training Centre in Pirbright and had a passion for training horses and mentoring fellow soldiers.

Sullivan’s dedication to The Troop was evident through her active participation in various activities, including show jumping and regimental events. Her legacy as a valued member of the military community was honored during the funeral service, where she was fondly remembered for her positive impact and unwavering commitment.
