“England vs. DR Congo: Teatime Match Excites Young Fans”

England’s upcoming match against DR Congo, scheduled for teatime, will provide young fans the opportunity to support the Three Lions. Unlike the previous late kick-off times during the group stages, which made it challenging for many children to watch Harry Kane and the team in action, the 5pm start for this match will allow kids to enjoy the game after school.

Chris Spratt, the headteacher at Loudwater Combined School in Buckinghamshire, mentioned that the students are eagerly looking forward to the game and the World Cup in general. The school has integrated the tournament into its curriculum, incorporating lessons on various global regions and hosting special guests, including a witness to England’s 1966 World Cup victory. Additionally, Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha was featured in an assembly to inspire self-belief.

Some students have requested to wear England kits to school on Wednesday in anticipation of the match. Mr. Spratt confidently replied that they would save that for the final, showing optimism in the team’s potential progress. While the 5pm match time suits schoolchildren, employees may need to negotiate with their bosses to leave on time for the game. Some experts speculate that a few might even leave work early to catch the match.

Vouchercodes predicts that 3.5 million individuals will watch the game at pubs and bars, while 11.2 million will tune in from home. Fans are estimated to spend around £276.3 million on various purchases, with a significant portion allocated to snacks and drinks. Notably, the hospitality sector is anticipated to receive £64.8 million from fans heading to pubs after work.
