“Drone Attack Sparks Fire at Moscow Oil Depot, Injures 28”

The Governor of the Moscow region reported a significant drone attack that caused a fire at an oil depot, resulting in the evacuation of a maternity hospital and residential buildings.

Officials believe the assault, originating from Ukraine, triggered multiple explosions and left 28 individuals injured.

According to Governor Andrey Vorobyov, 48 drones were downed in the region, with the most severe impact in the Bogorodsky urban district where a drone crash ignited a fire at the Noginsk oil depot.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that over 370 Ukrainian drones were directed towards Moscow, with 64 intercepted near the capital. The attack occurred following reports of a previous incident targeting a Wildberries fulfilment center in the Tambov region.

Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, operates numerous warehouses and fulfilment centers nationwide to manage orders efficiently.

As a precautionary measure, a nearby maternity hospital was evacuated, relocating patients and staff to alternative medical facilities as specified by Governor Vorobyov.

Footage captured by witnesses depicted flames and explosions at the Noginsk oil depot, which comprises 24 storage tanks with a total capacity of 11,500 cubic meters.

Online videos showed thick black smoke billowing from the depot as flames engulfed the area.

Emergency response teams, including 40 ambulance crews and 12 units from the regional disaster medicine center, are actively involved in the post-attack cleanup efforts along with police and municipal workers.

The oil depot, a crucial fuel storage and logistics center in the Moscow region, serves as a key hub for storing and transporting petroleum products for traders and fuel companies.
