At least 37 individuals lost their lives in the aftermath of a Russian assault on the Bucha region near Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, as confirmed by officials on Saturday. Tymur Tkachenko, in charge of the local regional military administration, reported that around 50 residential structures suffered damage during the attack, triggering a significant fire that spread to homes and a restaurant.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed that a warehouse in the village of Myla was hit, resulting in an explosion. Zelenskyy mentioned that legal action has been initiated due to alleged official negligence, emphasizing that regulations prohibit storing ammunition near residential areas.
Zelenskyy noted that a care home for elderly and disabled individuals, along with residential buildings, sustained damage. More than 370 people have been evacuated, with the process still ongoing, according to Zelenskyy. Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi echoed concerns over the situation, referring back to a prior attack in Vyshneve that led to fatalities and destructive detonations.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense stated that they targeted a warehouse in Myla containing components for long-range drones. The ongoing air raids in Kyiv, now spanning three days, have severely disrupted civilian life and the economy in the Ukrainian capital, even years after Russia’s invasion.
In a separate incident, Russian assaults in Ukraine’s southern Kherson region resulted in two fatalities and 27 injuries, with damage to homes and apartment buildings reported. Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the regional administration, highlighted intensified attacks on critical infrastructure and advised residents to relocate to safer areas due to potential power and heating disruptions.
Moreover, three individuals lost their lives, and nine were wounded in a Ukrainian drone strike in Russia’s Belgorod region, as per local authorities’ Telegram channel. Three of the injured are in critical condition.
