“Community Mourns Tragic Loss of Abbie Carmody-Pepper”

Hundreds gathered at the Church of The Holy Spirit in Ballymun, north Dublin, to pay their final respects to Abbie Carmody-Pepper, a 15-year-old who tragically drowned off the coast of Burrow Beach during a celebration marking the end of Transition Year and the beginning of summer. Abbie’s family, including her parents Mandy and Wayne, along with her brothers Leon and Warren, delivered heartfelt speeches at the funeral, remembering Abbie’s infectious smile and loving nature.

Abbie’s older brother Aaron spoke on behalf of the family, expressing gratitude for the cherished moments shared with Abbie over the years. He fondly recalled Abbie’s unwavering smile, her lively spirit, and the impact she had on everyone around her. Aaron’s poignant words painted a picture of Abbie’s vibrant personality and the special memories they shared as a family.

During the emotional ceremony, musical tributes such as “Forever Young” by Alphaville and “How Long Will I Love You” by Ellie Goulding filled the air, honoring Abbie’s life. Personal items symbolizing Abbie’s essence, including lip gloss, a handbag, and her favorite sweets, were chosen to commemorate her memory.

Following the church service, Abbie was laid to rest at Dardistown Cemetery. The family, including Abbie’s aunt Joanne, continues to grapple with the profound grief brought on by the tragic loss. Despite the sorrow, Abbie’s spirit lives on through the memories shared by her loved ones, ensuring she will always be remembered with love and fondness.
