In a tragic development, a body has been discovered during the search for two individuals who went missing near a holiday park in Wales.
Authorities responded to reports of a body found on Aberystwyth beach at approximately 12:30 pm on July 26.
The deceased has been identified as Connor Parfitt, one of the missing men last seen near Hafan-Y-Mor Holiday Park in Pwllheli. Connor’s family and the coroner have been notified of the discovery.
The search is ongoing for the second man, Simon Wilson, and the authorities are providing support to his family, as confirmed by North Wales Police.
Concerns were raised about the duo’s whereabouts when they were suspected to have headed to the beach with inflatable kayaks around 6:30 pm on July 21, according to an earlier statement by the police.
A large-scale search operation was initiated by coastguards and the RNLI, urging witnesses to provide any information regarding Simon and Connor’s location to the authorities.
Chief Inspector Stephen Pawson expressed condolences to both families in this challenging period, acknowledging that the outcome was not what anyone had hoped for, despite the extensive search efforts.
Acknowledgments were extended to partner agencies, volunteers, and the public for their assistance during the six-day search. The public is urged to provide any information or sightings of Simon by referencing the case number O120829.
