“Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Placed on Injured List”

The Toronto Blue Jays placed six-time All-Star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the seven-day injured list on Saturday due to concussion symptoms, while calling up outfielder Daz Cameron from Triple-A Buffalo. In a corresponding move, right-hander Lazaro Estrada was designated for assignment to make space on the 40-man roster.

Additionally, Toronto recalled left-hander Ricky Tiedemann from Buffalo and sent right-hander Chase Lee to Triple-A. Guerrero exited Friday’s 3-1 win against the Yankees after a collision with New York rookie shortstop George Lombard Jr. during a play at third base in the sixth inning.

During the incident, Lombard attempted to hurdle over a sliding Guerrero at third base, but his knee and thigh made contact with Guerrero’s head, causing his helmet to come off. Despite the collision, Guerrero managed to score the tying run before being replaced by Charles McAdoo at first base in the seventh inning.

Following the game, manager John Schneider mentioned that Guerrero experienced a headache, which persisted into Saturday. Guerrero currently holds a .263 batting average with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. Tiedemann, on the other hand, posted a 0-1 record with a 6.43 ERA in seven games, including two starts, across various minor league levels this season.
