A significant police presence, including a SWAT team and numerous armed officers, has been deployed to an incident near the location where the England football team is scheduled to begin their World Cup campaign. The Arlington Police vehicles were observed along West Division Street in Texas, close to AT&T Stadium where England will face Croatia in two days.
According to an officer at the scene, the incident was described as “serious” with a suspect displaying a weapon. Police snipers, an armored BearCat vehicle, and drones were utilized, with a substantial number of officers sent to the area.
A spokesperson for the Arlington Police Department confirmed that the police were responding to a domestic dispute involving a man and a woman at a residential address. The female resident was reportedly barricaded inside the home with others, but no injuries were reported despite a weapon being involved. The suspect has been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing.
Authorities have stated that there is no indication that the incident is linked to the World Cup or poses any threat to the tournament or its venues.
