Cineplex to Showcase “Heated Rivalry” Canadian-made Series in Theatres
Fans of the hit series “Heated Rivalry” will soon have the opportunity to enjoy it on the big screen as Cineplex announces a special screening event. The popular queer romance will be shown in all its six episodes across Canada in early November. Additionally, the series will also be screened in theatres in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand as part of the broader deal.
Canadian viewers can catch the entire first season in marathon screenings on Nov. 8 or opt for two episodes shown together on Nov. 6, 10, and 11. Fans will have the chance to “reheat” the show, a term used to describe rewatching episodes or the entire season, at participating theatres. More details can be found on Cineplex’s website.
In the U.S., screenings of all six episodes are scheduled to take place in over 650 theatres starting on Nov. 6. Based on Rachel Reid’s novel, “Heated Rivalry” follows the story of rival hockey stars Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) as they navigate their on-ice competition and personal relationship.
Excitement and mixed reactions have been shared by fans on social media regarding the upcoming screenings. Some fans expressed their joy at the opportunity to experience their favorite streaming show on the big screen, while others raised concerns about the ticket prices. Despite the varying reactions, the screenings offer a chance for fans to refresh their memories before the second season, expected to premiere in spring 2027.
Series creator Jacob Tierney has also released a new book titled “I’ll Believe in Anything: The Making of Heated Rivalry,” which provides fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the show’s production, featuring annotated scripts and additional material.
The screenings are set to bring the beloved series to a wider audience and build anticipation for the upcoming season.
