Saskatoon police deployed a dedicated five-person surveillance team to monitor Kyle Ronald Hameluck immediately upon his release from jail. The 37-year-old had been serving a sentence for 25 counts of voyeurism, involving the surreptitious filming and photographing of women through their windows while in various states of undress.
Upon his release, Hameluck was subject to probation conditions that prohibited him from possessing or using any device capable of capturing photos or videos. Despite these conditions, Hameluck is facing charges for allegedly breaching this restriction. He entered a plea of not guilty, and his trial commenced at Saskatoon provincial court on Thursday.
During the trial, Const. Adam Blades, a member of the surveillance team, testified as the first witness. Blades recounted observing Hameluck engaging with a store clerk at the Midtown Mall in downtown Saskatoon, where it appeared that Hameluck was purchasing a cellphone. This observation prompted Blades to inform the team’s sergeant that Hameluck was in violation of his probation conditions.
Subsequently, officers located Hameluck in the mall’s food court, arrested him, and found a new Samsung Galaxy A16 phone in his possession. The arrest, which was captured on the body-worn cameras of two uniformed officers, revealed that Hameluck had razor blades in his pocket, which he claimed were intended to destroy the phone’s cameras.
Following the incident, Hameluck has remained in custody since his arrest for the alleged breach in February. His trial before Judge Darren Howarth was initially expected to last one day, but the judge may reserve his decision even after the evidence concludes.
Prior to Hameluck’s release, police issued a public alert with his name and photo due to concerns about his potential to reoffend. His recent convictions stem from multiple voyeurism charges in late 2024 and early 2025, with previous offences dating back to 2020 and 2017, where he pleaded guilty to voyeurism and indecent assault charges while on probation.
