Apologies!” Eby referenced the September 11, 2001, incidents, recalling how Canadians provided shelter to 8,500 stranded passengers at Vancouver International Airport.
Reflecting on the current political climate, Eby highlighted President Donald Trump’s actions, including insults, unjust tariffs, and threats to Canada’s sovereignty. Despite the ongoing trade tensions, Eby emphasized that Canadians are ready to support their neighbors in times of need. He underlined that while Canadian kindness is a significant asset, it should not be perceived as a weakness.
In response to Canada’s counter-tariffs coming into effect, Eby confirmed that British Columbia would maintain its prohibition on selling U.S. alcohol in its stores as a retaliatory measure against what he termed Trump’s “unfair” trade policies. Eby assured that his administration is collaborating closely with the federal government to develop additional strategies to safeguard Canadian interests.
