“Canada Women’s Hockey Team Gears Up to Face U.S. in Pre-World Championship Showdown”

The Canadian women’s hockey team is set to face off against the United States on October 28 in Windsor, Ontario, in a prelude to the 2026 world championship, as announced by Hockey Canada on Tuesday. Additionally, a second preparatory game in the U.S. is in the pipeline with details to be disclosed shortly.

Scheduled from November 6 to 16 in Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark, the women’s world hockey championships are fast approaching. In the upcoming tournament, Canada, who was defeated by the United States in the gold-medal match at the Milan Cortina Olympics in February, will kick off their campaign against Sweden on November 6. The Canadian team will also compete against Japan, Denmark, and Finland during the preliminary round.

This event marks Canada’s first tournament under the leadership of Danièle Sauvageau, who took over from Gina Kingsbury as the national team’s general manager. Notably, Canada is yet to appoint a successor to Troy Ryan, who held the position of head coach for six years.

Unfortunately, Canada’s captain, Marie-Philip Poulin, is expected to miss the tournament due to surgery she underwent in July to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn meniscus in her right knee.
