Visitors to a popular coastal air show are being advised against feeding seagulls to prevent potential bird strikes.
The annual Blackpool Air Show, which drew over 350,000 spectators last year, is set to host hundreds of thousands of people this weekend, showcasing top military and civilian aircraft performances against the backdrop of the seafront.
However, attendees are being cautioned about the risks posed by feeding seagulls as it could lead to hazardous situations for aircraft, particularly during low-level flying displays.
To maintain safety, event organizers are urging visitors to properly dispose of any waste and refrain from feeding the birds.
Jim Johnson, the operations, safety, and compliance manager at Blackpool Airport, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming air show and urged cooperation from spectators in keeping the area clear of gulls to reduce the likelihood of bird strikes during the displays.
The Blackpool Air Show, scheduled for August 8 to 9, promises a lineup of impressive aircraft demonstrations, including RAF Typhoons, a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and the renowned Red Devils.
The event’s website has highlighted that the show will feature a stellar display of British aviation excellence, showcasing remarkable flying machines and skilled pilots from the country.
