Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is commemorating her 45th birthday today after recently returning to the UK for the first time in several years. Throughout the past year, she has been actively engaged in various trips both domestically and internationally. It is anticipated that she will spend a quiet day at home with her family to celebrate this significant occasion.
In previous years, Meghan has chosen to keep her birthday festivities private, opting for intimate gatherings with her husband and children rather than hosting extravagant celebrity events at her California residence. A close acquaintance of the Duchess shared that this year’s celebration will follow the same low-key pattern.
According to a source close to Meghan as reported by Hello! Magazine, she desires to enjoy a relaxed day surrounded by loved ones on her 45th birthday. After the festivities, she plans to swiftly return to her work commitments.
Last year, on her birthday, Meghan shared a photo of herself blowing out candles on a cake in a Los Angeles restaurant, expressing gratitude for the warm birthday wishes from her supporters. Her lifestyle brand, As Ever, also extended birthday greetings to her on their Instagram account, acknowledging her successful year.
During her tenure as a working member of the Royal Family, the Palace traditionally marked Meghan’s birthday by sharing a portrait along with a heartfelt birthday message, a practice observed for all senior royals.
It is speculated that this will be the sixth consecutive year without an official birthday message, although former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond suggested that King Charles might privately acknowledge the day as the Sussexes work on repairing their relationship with him.
Meghan has previously spoken about her birthday traditions, revealing on her former lifestyle blog, The Tig, how she views birthdays as a personal “New Year” to reflect on her life and set aspirations for the future, inspired by her mother, Doria.
To commemorate her 40th birthday in 2021, Meghan launched an initiative called ’40×40′, encouraging 40 influential friends to dedicate 40 minutes to mentoring and supporting women re-entering the workforce post-pandemic. Unfortunately, the project was quietly discontinued after encountering difficulties in implementation.
