Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on Moscow, deploying around 390 drones over a ten-hour period. The assault, which started at 8.30 pm and lasted until dawn, saw only 81 drones intercepted, causing significant damage and widespread panic in the Moscow region. President Volodymyr Zelensky initiated this operation just before his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump to demonstrate Ukraine’s resistance against Russia’s invasion.
During the attack, a logistics warehouse serving multiple Russian companies in Koledino village, located south of Moscow, was set ablaze. The warehouse is believed to be close to a storage facility for the Russian online retail giant Wildberries, a frequent target of recent attacks. Ukrainian officials accuse Wildberries of being part of the Kremlin’s defense supply chain due to its listing of military equipment on its website, including drone components and body armor that can be utilized on the Ukrainian frontline.
Recent successes by Ukraine against Russian forces and incursions into Russia have garnered support for Zelensky from Trump, who is expected to discuss Ukraine’s air defense deficiencies with the Ukrainian President during their meeting. Zelensky will also attend the funeral of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, who was a strong advocate for Ukraine and played a vital role in securing a new Russian sanctions agreement before his passing.
Ukrainian strikes have intensified in recent weeks, targeting various locations in Russia, resulting in injuries and property damage. These attacks, often directed at oil and gas facilities and non-residential buildings, aim to weaken Russia’s military capabilities and disrupt the daily lives of civilians. The war in Ukraine is losing favor among Russians due to rising gas prices, petrol shortages, and growing discontent towards the Kremlin.
In response, Russia has carried out a series of missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian territory, causing civilian casualties and instilling fear among the population. Recent attacks resulted in the deaths of at least 15 individuals, including casualties from ballistic missile strikes and glide bomb attacks. The conflict continues to escalate, with both sides engaging in aggressive military actions.
