“Man arrested for DUI after using tractor to retrieve crashed pickup”

A man was taken into custody for driving under the influence after he showed up at a crash site in a tractor to pull his own pickup truck out of a ditch, where he had crashed it. The incident occurred in Callahan, Florida’s Nassau County, on June 24. Witnesses reported to the police that the driver had fled the scene and headed to a nearby residence.

Bodycam footage captured the pickup truck stuck in a grassy ditch. The driver, upon returning with a tractor to retrieve his truck, was seen unsteady on his feet, prompting officers to administer a sobriety test. The individual, unnamed in reports, failed the test and was arrested for DUI.

Authorities from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office discovered a 15-pack of cold beer and several open containers inside the man’s pickup truck. In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office emphasized that DUI laws apply to all motor vehicles, including tractors, reminding the public to hand over their keys if they have been drinking.
