“US Strikes Iran After Drone Attack on Cargo Ship”

The United States has conducted strikes against Iran in response to a drone attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. The US military carried out airstrikes on Iranian missile and drone storage facilities as well as coastal radar sites, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM). These strikes were described as a robust retaliation to the previous day’s incident in the Strait of Hormuz, which President Donald Trump criticized as a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center reported that a cargo ship was hit by an unidentified projectile southeast of Oman’s port of Dahit. No injuries were reported in the attack. CENTCOM stated that Iran targeted the Singapore-flagged M/V Ever Lovely with a one-way attack drone, describing the act as an unjustified aggression that breached the ceasefire agreement and threatened freedom of navigation in the crucial trade route.

Following the drone attack, President Trump hinted at a possible US response during a press briefing at the White House. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have repelled a US attack on Sirik Island and warned of a swift and decisive counterstrike at a time and place of their choosing. Iranian state television also reported that two missiles struck a telecommunications tower in the Sirik area near the Strait of Hormuz.
