Police Seek Help in Tragic Case of Newborn Found Deceased

Detectives are seeking assistance to locate the mother of a newborn infant discovered deceased in a warehouse in the Black Country. The baby, believed to be female, was found in a waste heap at an industrial location in Rowley Regis on Thursday. Authorities from the West Midlands Police suspect that the waste was inadvertently transported to the site on Station Road by a private waste company on Wednesday. The police clarified that the business responsible for the waste collection is not being linked to the incident and operates in various regions.

Investigations, including forensic examinations, are underway to identify the baby and determine the cause of death. Officials are actively trying to locate the baby’s mother out of concern for her well-being and potential need for medical attention. The police have issued a plea for assistance, urging anyone who may have information about the mother’s whereabouts to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake emphasized the urgency of finding the mother to provide necessary support and aid, stating that the mother’s welfare is the top priority.

Efforts to identify the mother have involved reviewing CCTV footage and contacting hospitals, with a call for the mother or anyone with information to respond to the appeal. A Major Incident Public Portal has been established for individuals to provide information directly to the police.
