“Royal Crescent Tops UK’s Most Instagram-Worthy Streets”

Bath’s renowned Royal Crescent has been crowned the most Instagram-worthy street in the UK, but residing there comes with a hefty price tag. Constructed in the 1760s and 70s, the crescent is celebrated for its elegant Georgian architecture and panoramic views overlooking the River Avon.

According to recent data from Halifax, the average cost of properties on the Royal Crescent stands at £590,786, significantly surpassing the £298,806 average price of a typical home in the UK. London’s Portobello Road, famous for its charming pastel-hued houses and vibrant market scene, secures the second spot, followed by The Street in the picturesque village of Castle Combe.

Edinburgh also makes an appearance in the top 10, with Victoria Street and Circus Lane making the list. Fortunately, you don’t necessarily need a substantial budget to reside in an Instagram-worthy location.

For instance, Elm Hill in Norwich boasts an average price of £235,822, while Eastgate Street in Chester comes in at £263,811. The most affordable street within the top 20 is Pier Road in Luss, where the average property price is £158,559.

Premium London locations like Portobello Road and Kynance Mews command top prices in the market, with values reaching £1.66 million and £1.45 million respectively.

The rankings by Lloyds are determined based on the frequency of appearance of each street on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, as well as the number of location tags it receives.

Amanda Bryden, Head of Mortgages at Lloyds, noted, “Social media is reshaping how people explore new destinations and envision their future homes. These streets stand out due to their unique character, be it vibrant residences, historical structures, or picturesque settings, making them irresistible to share.”

She added, “The variety of locations featured is remarkable, ranging from premium streets to more accessible ones, proving that finding a special place doesn’t always require a sizable budget.”
