Residents were forced to evacuate after a suspected grenade was discovered at a residence. The bomb squad was called to Kirkstall Close in Chorley to handle the situation, leading to the area being cordoned off. Following a police pursuit in Preston, the suspected grenade was found during a property search on June 21.

Law enforcement officers began pursuing a red Ford Fiesta in New Hall Lane late in the evening, which culminated in the vehicle being stopped at Brockholes Brow using tactical maneuvers. The driver, a 20-year-old individual from Chorley, brandished what appeared to be a handgun at officers but was later revealed to be a BB gun. The driver was apprehended and found in possession of two knives, leading to his arrest on multiple charges.

Additionally, three passengers, two men aged 20 and 21, and a 21-year-old woman from Preston, were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. The police investigation extended to a property in Chorley, where the grenade was discovered, prompting the closure of part of Brockholes Brow.

A police spokesperson detailed the events, mentioning the pursuit and subsequent arrests. The authorities assured the public of no immediate risk and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. The ongoing investigation is focused on ensuring community safety, with officers conducting patrols in the vicinity.
