“Trump Warns Iran Over Lebanon Clashes”

US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran amid ongoing clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of at least 47 individuals on June 19, with additional casualties, including two children, reported the following day. Furthermore, four Israeli soldiers lost their lives in a Hezbollah drone attack on their tank in southern Lebanon.

Following these events, Iran has once again closed the vital Strait of Hormuz, alleging violations of the ceasefire by the US and Israel. Trump took to social media to demand that Iran rein in Hezbollah’s disruptive activities, cautioning of severe consequences if they persist. The strait, crucial for global oil and gas transport, has since reopened after an interim peace agreement was reached between the US and Iran.

In the midst of these tensions, US Vice-President JD Vance and Iranian officials are engaged in negotiations in Switzerland regarding Tehran’s nuclear program and the ceasefire agreement. Vance emphasized the potential for positive developments in Middle Eastern relations but acknowledged the possibility of reverting to previous practices.

Despite the diplomatic efforts, Israel and Hezbollah have not formally agreed to the ceasefire. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to maintain a military presence in southern Lebanon until all threats to Israel are neutralized. Hezbollah, while reaffirming its commitment to the ceasefire, accused Israel of multiple violations and vowed to defend against Israeli incursions.

Hezbollah reportedly launched over 50 projectiles at Israeli positions in southern Lebanon, prompting Israeli forces to retaliate by targeting numerous Hezbollah installations, including rocket launch sites and command centers. The group remains resolute in its defense stance against Israeli military actions.
