A different Labour source criticized those urging Starmer to fight, suggesting they are driven by factional motives rather than the party’s best interests. The sentiment was echoed by broadcaster Ayesha Hazarika, who highlighted the potential positive legacy for the Prime Minister if he chooses to resign.
Additionally, focus has shifted towards the upcoming by-election for the Greater Manchester mayoralty, triggered by Burnham’s election. The by-election is set to occur on July 30, with Labour expected to announce its candidate on June 26.
