“Tragic Drowning at World Cup Party: Community Rallies for Taylor Thach”

A tragic incident unfolded at a World Cup viewing party where a young child, Taylor Thach, lost his life in what authorities suspect to be an accidental drowning. The distressing event took place in El Segundo, California, at a friend’s residence while they were gathered to watch the World Cup.

Emergency responders were called to the scene around 7:30 pm on June 12, where they found Taylor unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive him, the child was swiftly transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre, where he unfortunately passed away.

According to Eric Atkinson, the Investigations Lieutenant at the El Segundo Police Department, initial indications point towards accidental drowning pending an official autopsy. Law enforcement officials are actively gathering statements from attendees of the World Cup gathering to piece together the sequence of events.

In response to the heartbreaking loss, the local community initiated a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to support Taylor’s grieving family. The fundraising goal of $5,000 was significantly surpassed, with over $83,000 raised within just four days. All proceeds are intended to assist Taylor’s mother, Sokunthea, father, Somnang, and brother, Jordan Thach.

Taylor is being remembered fondly for his compassionate nature and amiable personality. A neighbor spearheading the fundraiser described Taylor as a cherished student at Center Street School, noting his kindness, friendliness, and ability to bring joy to those around him.

The community is grappling with the profound impact of this loss, rallying together to aid the Thach family during this difficult period. Contributions, regardless of size, are deeply appreciated, and sharing memories of Taylor is encouraged to honor his legacy and the love he shared with those around him.
