England fans gathered at a Dallas pub, defying police orders to disperse before the Three Lions’ World Cup opener against Croatia. Despite being asked to leave by bar staff and police officers due to reaching maximum capacity, fans lingered outside the pub, leading to a partial closure.
The pub managed to sell over 5,000 beers, earning more than £30,000 before closing early. Subsequently, supporters stayed on the balcony, attracting police presence and engaging in chants and football activities on the road.
Organizer John Gallivan noted the challenge of navigating the vast Texas area compared to European tournaments. The event saw enthusiastic fans in England-themed attire, singing chants, and enjoying the festive atmosphere.
Gallivan expressed disappointment over the high costs hindering some fans from attending the tournament, criticizing FIFA for pricing out dedicated supporters. As England geared up to face Croatia at the AT&T Stadium, anticipation and national pride ran high among fans.
