“Iran Deploys Drones in Strait of Hormuz Amid US Agreement”

Iran has been deploying multiple drones to target commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz following a recent agreement between Washington and Tehran, as per a US official. The drones, launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), were intercepted and destroyed by US forces to prevent any threat to commercial shipping or American personnel in the region.

NBC News reported that the IRGC has been conducting nightly drone launches since the electronic signing of the agreement. Iranian state media hailed the agreement as a diplomatic victory for Tehran, particularly after Donald Trump’s announcement of a peace deal on Sunday.

State broadcaster Network News (Khabar TV) declared that Iran had successfully compelled its adversaries to end the prolonged conflict, labeling it a triumph for the Islamic Republic. In a post-announcement broadcast, the channel stated that Iran had forced the “American-Zionist enemy” to cease hostilities on all fronts.

Following Trump’s announcement of finalized negotiations and the resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, the US President, writing on Truth Social, proclaimed the completion of the deal with Iran. He authorized the toll-free opening of the strait and the immediate removal of the US Naval blockade, urging ships worldwide to resume operations and let the oil flow.

Pakistan has indicated that the agreement is set to be formally signed in Switzerland on Friday. While full details of the agreement have not been publicly disclosed by Washington or Tehran, Iranian state media has released information on a draft 14-point memorandum of understanding.

Reportedly, the proposed deal includes the lifting of the US naval blockade within 30 days and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian management during the same period. The strait is a crucial shipping route globally and plays a vital role in energy supplies.

Trump has lauded the agreement as a significant diplomatic achievement, emphasizing its potential to restore oil flow in the region and address international concerns about trade and energy security. He reiterated that the breakthrough would allow oil shipments to resume unhindered, ensuring that “oil will flow” globally once again.

More details about the accord are expected to surface before the scheduled signing ceremony later this week.
