“FBI Thwarts Attack on UFC Freedom 250 Event”

The FBI has reported that a potential attack on the UFC Freedom 250 event in Washington DC has been foiled. Five individuals have been apprehended, and 23 others have been identified as potential collaborators, according to the Bureau.

The alleged scheme involved using drones carrying explosives to target buildings near the event, inducing a mass evacuation, and guiding crowds toward a pre-planned sniper team, officials disclosed. Authorities also claim that a “second wave” plan was in place to breach the White House gate.

The FBI’s awareness of the plot began on June 10 when an individual was detained in Cincinnati, leading to the discovery of Signal chats where multiple individuals supposedly discussed attacking the UFC event. Officials mentioned that at least 23 Signal users were observed engaging in pre-operational discussions on one suspect’s iPhone. Some of these individuals purportedly planned to travel to Fredericksburg, Virginia, on June 12 or 13 to finalize preparations for the assault.

Additionally, one suspect allegedly aimed to target wealthy capitalists and politicians who received donations from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. The operation involved at least 12 FBI field offices.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated, “On June 10, the FBI and law enforcement partners were alerted to a potential threat targeting the UFC America 250 event in Washington, D.C. involving individuals outside the National Capital Region. Thanks to swift action by the FBI, our partners, and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, multiple individuals are now in custody, and planned attacks were thwarted.”

Patel further added, “While this successful operation showcases the dedication of our investigative team, it also highlights our ongoing commitment to safeguarding American lives, especially during prominent events like the UFC 250 fight. We urge the public to report any suspicious activity to 1-800-CALL-FBI or http://tips.fbi.gov.”
