A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after a disturbing knife assault occurred on a bustling street in Ilford. The incident took place on Ilford Lane, a well-trafficked area with various shops and residences, just before 4:55 pm on Saturday.
Following the attack, a 17-year-old suspect was apprehended by the police on charges of attempted murder and is currently in custody. Law enforcement closed off Ilford Lane to gather evidence at the scene where the victim was swiftly transported to a major trauma center by paramedics.
A police cordon was established between A118 Winston Way and Grange Road for more than 24 hours as forensic teams conducted investigations at the location. Authorities are now calling on any witnesses to provide information about the stabbing.
According to a Metropolitan Police representative, officers responded to reports of the stabbing around 4:55 pm on Saturday, June 13, at Ilford Lane. The injured 15-year-old boy received initial treatment at the site before being taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The spokesperson added that the 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the police quoting reference 5194/13JUN. The London Ambulance Service also confirmed their response to the incident, providing medical assistance to the teenager before transferring him to a major trauma center.
