“Former Reform UK Leader Resigns, Calls Party Unfit to Lead”

A member of the local council who switched from the Conservative party to Reform UK has now resigned from Reform UK, criticizing them as “unfit to lead” and plagued by “destructive internal conflicts.”

Robbie Lammas, previously the deputy leader of Reform UK on Medway Council in Kent, has stepped down from his new role after only eight months.

Having left the Tories for Nigel Farage’s party, Lammas now admits that switching was “the biggest error of his life” and expressed feeling deceived.

Lammas described Reform as lacking seriousness, readiness, and the capability to govern, stating that the party’s internal discord surpasses that of the Conservatives.

He will now serve as an independent council member but aspires to rejoin the Conservative party in the future.

In his words, “Leaving the Conservatives last year was a major misstep on my part. I was mistaken, and I apologize.

“Many within Reform harbor animosity towards conservatives. The infighting within Reform is toxic, making previous Tory disagreements seem trivial.”

“Despite differences, the Conservatives are bonded by shared principles, akin to a family. In contrast, Reform is bound by grievances alone.”

“While addressing grievances is part of politics, effective governance relies on individuals willing to address and resolve issues for the public good, not merely sensationalize them. Reform is ill-prepared, unserious, and unfit to govern.”

Originally elected to Medway Council in 2021, Lammas switched to Reform UK last year. During this time, he served as a Special Adviser to the Conservative Party Chairman. He has since expressed regret to Tory Leader Kemi Badenoch for the impact his defection to Reform UK had on his former colleagues.

He stated, “My decision to join Reform was based on the belief that they embraced conservative values. I now realize this was not the case.

“I have written to Kemi Badenoch to express my remorse for my error and to acknowledge the significant strides she has made in restoring the Conservative Party.

“While there is more work ahead, the Conservative Party is undergoing a positive transformation – reverting to its conservative roots.”

A spokesperson for Reform UK mentioned, “Lammas was previously suspended and received a formal warning during an investigation into his behavior. He also applied for a position within the party but was not accepted.
