“Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Lancashire Stabbing”

A man has been identified and charged following a stabbing incident involving a teenage girl in Lancashire. Lancashire Police officers, including some armed personnel, responded to a call at 3:06 pm on Friday, June 12, on Wood Street in Brierfield, where they discovered the 17-year-old victim with a stab wound to the back of her neck.

The injured girl was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, where it was determined that her injuries were non-life-threatening. Subsequently, she was discharged from the hospital and is currently recuperating at her residence. Following the incident, a 30-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder and held in custody.

The suspect, Junaid Nawaz, aged 30, residing at Livingstone Walk in Brierfield, of British origin with Pakistani heritage, has been formally charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public setting. He is now in custody and is scheduled to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court the following morning.

Law enforcement authorities have announced the deployment of additional patrols in the vicinity and have urged individuals with any relevant information or footage to come forward. Community members have taken to social media platforms to express their astonishment at the incident that occurred in the small town, home to approximately 8,000 residents. One individual shared on Facebook, “So relieved that the girl’s injuries are not life-threatening.”
