A seaside hotel in south Devon that had undergone a significant renovation and was set to reopen has reportedly entered administration. The Quayside Hotel in Brixham, near Torquay, which closed for renovations in late 2022, appointed administrators on June 5, as per a notice in The Gazette. Joint administrators from Richard J Smith & Co, Jonathan David Trembath, and Samuel Adam Bailey are overseeing the process.
Despite plans for a grand reopening last year, the hotel never resumed operations and has now fallen under administration, according to BusinessLive. The hotel, situated on King Street with views of the harbor, had also featured a bar and restaurant.
The Quayside Hotel, dating back to the 18th century, offered picturesque views of Brixham harbor, as described on its website. The establishment highlighted its convenient location near the beach and town center, along with amenities such as four-poster beds, sea view rooms, free Wi-Fi, and live entertainment.
The hotel’s central location allowed guests to observe fishing trawlers bringing in their catches, enhancing the overall experience. With a 4.3-star rating on Google, the hotel received high praise from visitors, commending the comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and excellent dining options.
Guests expressed their satisfaction, with one guest mentioning the lovely harbor view from their room and the exceptional service provided by the staff. Another guest described the hotel as a charming and friendly place with amazing food, indicating a desire to return.
