A 14-year-old girl is in critical condition at the hospital following a car crash involving a reportedly stolen vehicle she was operating.
The incident occurred in the south-east area of Melbourne on Wednesday, July 29, at 10:15 pm. The car, identified as a Honda Jazz, was heading north on Peninsula Link near the Cranbourne-Frankston Road exit when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times.
Emergency responders rescued two 14-year-old girls from the wreckage. The driver sustained life-threatening injuries, while the passenger’s injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collision and have not made any arrests yet.
A spokesperson from Victoria Police stated that Somerville Highway Patrol officers are looking into the crash involving a teenage girl and an allegedly stolen car in Langwarrin. The driver, a 14-year-old, was extracted from the overturned vehicle and transported to the hospital with severe injuries, while the other 14-year-old passenger was also hospitalized with less severe injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being probed. Police are seeking individuals with dashcam footage or eyewitness accounts of the grey Honda Jazz’s driving behavior in the vicinity before the accident.
